Double-Eye Leaf Spring Basics

Leaf springs, as you probably know, make up an important part of your trailer's suspension. Their main purpose is to absorb road shock as you travel, as well as allow your axle(s) to move independently of the rest of the trailer.

Double-Eye Spring Parts

To mount this leaf spring, you'll need hangers welded onto your trailer frame - which you probably already have in place - as well as shackle straps and a suspension bolt. It's a good idea to replace your existing straps and bolt while you're under there working on things because they tend to wear out quickly. One thing that could help keep them from wearing out too fast would be upgrading to galvanized or zinc-plated hardware. Doing so will boost the corrosion resistance and, therefore, the longevity of your trailer.

We also always recommend replacing both of your springs at the same time because it's not unusual for leaf springs to sag and elongate over time. If you replace just the one, there's a good chance that it won't match your existing spring on the opposite side of your trailer, and that can mess up your alignment.

  • How to Determine Replacement 6,000 lb Leaf Springs For Arctic Wolf 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Bekzod, So while we don't have a way of knowing the exact leaf springs for your Arctic Wolf 5th wheel trailer, I can help you determine the correct replacements. You do have to take a measurement, though it's pretty easy, as all you need to do is measure your current leaf springs from center-to-center of the spring eyes. Regarding the accuracy, since the springs flatten a bit over time, you should go with ones that measure a bit shorter than what you currently have. For example, if...

  • Dexter EZ Flex Equalizers for 6,000 Pound Axles on a 2006 Heartland Bighorn 5th Wheel
The length is good on the EZ Flex system # K71-653-00 but the height may be different depending on where you are measuring that 4-3/4 inches. On the EZ Flex the distance from the center of the mounting hole to the center line between the 2 bottom holes, straight up and down, is 2-7/8 inches. If your 4-3/4 inch measurement is diagonal then you will be good to go with this kit. For a u-bolt kit you can use # APUBR-9. The shocks might actually feel more effective with the EZ Flex kit installed....

  • Can Trailer Axle Spring Seats be Relocated If Needed
You can weld on new spring seats on your axle without compromising the integrity. So if you went with the part # 8327826 you could install the new seats with part # TRSS300 which would be easier than moving the brackets on the trailer frame. The extra width of the wheels being pushed out would not be an issue either. Going to a spring with more leaves would not be an issue either. We have the part # e94SR which is a 6 leaf 6k axle spring that is 26 inches long as well.

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Leaf Springs for 2007 Weekend Warrior Model CR3905
I was able to find out that your 2007 Weekend Warrior model CR3905 is triple axle trailer with a GVWR of 16k. That means for each axle you'd need a capacity of at least 5,333 lbs. Which means you most likely have 6k axles. We have a few options for that capacity for leaf springs but you'll need to measure the length of your current springs to be sure. If you have 26 inch long springs you'd need part # e94SR. If you have 25-1/4 inch long springs you'd need part # e78SR. You should note...

  • Could Leaf Spring e94SR Fit a Heartland Cyclone
When picking out leaf springs for a trailer priority one is the proper capacity. If you have 6k axles on your Heartland Cyclone then the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e94SR would fit and work well as a replacement. The hanger kit part # K71-360-00 would then work well with this spring as well. If your older springs were worn out and sagging because of that these would eliminate the sag. Since these springs are a little bit thicker the trailer would sit up a bit taller if the springs mount...

  • Replacement Leaf Springs for Montana HC 330RL 2020
Hey Jurijs, the correct leaf spring replacement you'd need is the part # e94SR which is the correct length and capacity. Springs tend to stretch and flatten as they wear out so what you have being a little longer would be correct for the # e94SR. There isn't an alternative to this spring that would be more ideal either. Since your axles would be 3 inch in diameter the correct u-bolt kit would be the part # APUBR-8 that you referenced.

  • Recommendation for Adding Third Axle To Trailer Suspension
The Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 is designed for 33 inch axle spacing. To add your third axle, you cannot simply add a hanger spring and axle. You can keep your 35 inch spacing but you will need to relocate your hangers. I've attached an article to help with the proper positioning of your axles. You will need to add another equalizer of the same dimension as you have to each side and then add the same leaf springs and shackle straps as what you currently have. You...

  • Looking For Replacement Brakes, Hubs, And Leaf Springs For My Dexter Axles
Hey Steve, Thank you for that information you provided, it sets me up to get you the direct replacements. For that replacement brake assembly you will want to go with the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Brakes # 23-458-459. This is the left and right hand assemblies that came originally on the trailer, ready to slide on and bolt on for you. • Replacement Leaf Spring for Dexter Part Number 072-099-01
Hey Dan, the best option for a leaf spring replacement would be the part # e94SR. This is the correct length leaf spring as well as correct weight rating since you have a 6k axle. We don't have a 7k rated spring that is correct length. For a bronze bushing you'd then want the part # D014-077-00 and then for a u-bolt kit the part # APUBR-8 comes with u-bolts, nuts, and the u-bolt plate.

  • Replacement Leaf Springs and Shackles for 2014 Evergreen Amped 28FS Toy Hauler
MORryde does have a suspension upgrade kit that I highly recommend. It comes with 1/2" thick shackles, along with wet bolts and bronze bushings. You will want to choose a kit based on the length of your current shackles. For 2-1/4" you need the # MR46ZR and for 3-1/8" the # MR76ZR. Your current leaf springs will be slightly elongated since they flatten over time so...

Hey Shawn, so we can definitely help but you will have to measure your current springs to get right length as we don't have a way to look that info up. Here are the sizes we carry: part # e34SR for 25-1/4 inch part # e94SR 26 inch part # e47sr 25-1/8 part # DX65CR 25-3/8 inch Keep in mind that springs tend to stretch over time so you'd want to go with one just a little shorter.

Hey Shaun, we have the exact replacement for your equalizer with the # TREQ104. But for shackle straps we only have 2-5/8 inch shackles in a non-hd configuration like the part # 115052. So what I would go with instead is the Dexter HD equalizer kit part # K71-359-00 which comes with everything you are looking for but the HD shackles are a little shorter at 2-1/4 inches. This would not cause any problems though since a slightly shorter shackle strap just ever so slightly changes the suspension...

Hey Richard. Are you trying to match up a part or item number you have? How did you measure your leaf springs to come up with needing 26" ones? We recommend jacking up one side of your trailer and getting all the weight off of that side of your suspension before measuring. Leaf springs tend to stretch out over the years and it's not uncommon for a 25 1/4" spring to measure 26" with the weight on it after a decade of use. Hey Doug, the best option we have is the part # e94SR which is a 26 inch long spring rated for a 6,000 lb axle. This is most likely the correct spring but you would want to jack up the trailer so that the spring doesn't have a load on it and measure the length again.
